Batman: A big house to run in

Mom: Having the final baby and multiple family vacations

Dad: Selling the house and having a significantly shorter commute

What We’ve Accepted:

Flash: Tummy time isn’t the worst thing in the world

Wonder Woman: Mom isn’t going to give up on scheduling physical, speech, and occupational therapy appointments

Batman: Middle child status

Superman: School is all day, 5 days a week, week after week

Mom: There is only one person in the house who folds laundry

Dad: The house will always be chaotic when coming home from work

What We’ve Missed:

Flash: The warm environment of an amniotic fluid filled uterus

Wonder Woman: The days before mom got the stander at home to practice standing/weight bearing.

Batman: When Mom and Dad’s time was only divided by 3 siblings

Batman: Being able to be unsupervised without causing mischief, mayhem, and destruction

Superman: Being a well-behaved Kindergartener praised for his kindness

Mom: Birthing a baby

Dad: Catching that baby

Mysteries that Remain Unsolved:

Flash: What happens to Dad during peek-a-boo?

Wonder Woman: Why is bath time a recurring event?

Batman: Why adults insist on healthy food and why doesn’t candy count?

Superman: Why must teeth be brushed twice a day every day?

Mom: How does so much spit end up on the boys’ bathroom mirror?

Dad: Where do all the dishes come from?

What We’re Hoping for the New Year:

Flash: To figure out this crawling business and be unstoppable

Wonder Woman: For mom to quit bugging me. Barring that, to get ample sunshine.

Batman: To eat as much candy as humanly possible, and for fun with Mom and Dad.

Superman: Unlimited video game time and/or more school holidays.

Mom: Magical laundry elves to move in, the children to magically eat the food they’re given, and/or more sleep. Will settle for a healthy year full of love and laughter and lots of coffee.

Dad: Unlimited video game time (will settle for any), more school holidays, to eat as much candy/cake as humanly possible without gaining weight, for mom to quit bugging me (just kidding…), and to be unstoppable. Will settle for a healthy year full of love, laughter, and as much time with family, as possible.
